This is a set of ball kanzashi(*1) and comb decorated with Genuine lacquer pure gold Makie(*2) from the long-established store the Kazurasei(*3) in Gion, Kyoto. 

(*1)Kanzashi[かんざし]  is a hair accessory that has been passed down in Japan since ancient times. It has been used by women to maintain their hairstyle and to dress beautifully.

(*2)Makie[蒔絵] is one of the representative decorative techniques of lacquer crafts that have been around since the Nara period. Pictures and patterns are drawn with lacquer, and before the lacquer hardens, maki-e powder (metallic powder such as gold or silver) is sprinkled on the surface to decorate it. It is called ``Makie'' because it involves sprinkling powder to create pictures.
